  Mysore Style Ashtanga Yoga

A new class, Saturdays from 4-6PM, beginning July 12th at the Yoga Circle

The Mysore practice is the foundation of Ashtanga Yoga and cultivates a deepening awareness or presence.  Each student begins or continues building the sequence of postures known as the primary series (also known as Yoga Chikitsa) and, as proficiency develops, more postures are added, one by one, until the entire sequence is complete.  With time and practice the second series (also known as the Intermediate or Nadi Shodhana) is progressively added.  All levels of students practice together and the teachers help each student individually based on specific needs.  Some prior exposure to the sequence of postures is beneficial but not required.  Please join us in building the energy of group practice.

Joan and Eric have been teaching Ashtanga Yoga in California and Colorado over the last 8 years.  They travel regularly to Mysore India and the Ashtanga Yoga Research Institute to learn from their teachers Pattabhi Jois and Sharath Rangaswamy and have maintained a daily Mysore style practice for over a decade.  They are especially committed to teaching in this tradition as they feel it best serves the needs of the students in experiencing “Yoga!”.
