A GUIDE TOWARDS PRACTICE
Yoga offers students a healthy and safe way to gain balance, strength, focus, and flexibility both physically and mentally. It’s a wonderful practice that offers our true essence to shine in our lives.
• Practice on an empty stomach (last meal should have been eaten 2-3 hours prior to class.
• Bring water, mat, small towel and block if required (we have mats that we clean regularly that you can borrow, but for sanitary purposes we recommend each student bring their own)
• Please try and arrive to class a few minutes early.
• Remember to turn off all cell phones.
• Try and avoid using lotion and oil on your body/hands prior to class it can make your practice very slippery.
• Avoid strong scents before coming to class as some people may be sensitive.
• When entering a class late, please join the class quietly. During Ashtanga or Flow class that has already begun, please do a few sun salutations before joining the class.
• Sign-in and indicate payment amount for each class.
• Practice ahimsa-non-harming- especially to yourself. Remember to smile and be aware of your breath. If your breath becomes short and choppy you are probably pushing too hard. Find your own edge not your neighbors and back off so that your breath can become long and deep. Pain is not the aim. Yoga should bring balance, ease and acceptance.
• Please make your teacher aware of any health issues prior to the beginning of class
• If you have to leave class early please give yourself ample time to relax on your back in savasana and leave before the rest of the class begins savasana.
• If required please check with your physician before starting any exercise activity.
